Mission Excellence share IoD Convention Platform with Gordon Brown and Michael Howard at the Royal Albert Hall
IoD Magazine, March 2004
IoD Convention

The IoD Convention is the largest and arguably the most prestigious senior business gathering in the UK.  The audience consists of over 2,000 top executives, and our speakers are drawn from the top ranks of business and government.

To be held on 28th April at the Royal Albert Hall in London, speakers attending this year’s Convention will include:

  • Michael Howard, Leader of the Opposition
  • Professor Howard Thomas, Dean of Warwick Business School
  • Barbara Cassani, Chairwoman of the London 2012 Olympic Bid
  • Justin Hughes, former Red Arrows pilot
  • Gordon Brown, Chancellor of the Exchequer
  • Micheal O’Leary, head of Ryanair

After last year’s highly successful convention, everyone agreed we would have a tough act to follow, and we are certainly rising to the challenge!

This year’s theme is Britain’s position in a competitive world, and the distinguished line up of confirmed speakers already includes the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Leader of the Opposition.  The appearance of Michael O’Leary, the charismatic and hugely successful head of Ryanair, is a real coup since he does not normally accept speaking engagements.

Barbara Cassini, who created, built and sold ‘Go’ and is now heading up the UK’s bid for the Olympics will also be speaking.  There will also be a dramatically illustrated presentation by a recent key member of the Red Arrows, whose methodical pursuit of excellence never ceases to impress.

The 2004 Convention is set to be, yet again, an enormously stimulating, thought-provoking and entertaining occasion.  It is the IoD’s big get-together of the year and is a fantastic opportunity for networking.
